About League
What is League Bowling?
Like other competitive sports, league bowling follows an established set of rules and is organised around a draw that allows each team to play every other team at least twice.
At the close of the competition, the leagues award trophies and prizes to team members, as well as cash prizes to the season's most outstanding bowlers.
Finding the right League for you
All our leagues are different, from fun, social teams to the seriously competitive. There are leagues for young people (from bumper bowlers to teenagers), adults, seniors and special needs players. In other words, there's a league to suit everyone!
Whether you're joining with a friend, as an individual or want to put together a team of your own, our staff can help you find the league that suits you best.
AMF Bowling Tip: Many of our day leagues include free creche facilities, so the kids can play while you do!
How does League Bowling work?
Format
There are typically four bowlers in a league team, although some teams compete with just two or three players. Three games are played on the same day and time each week: generally about two hours of play.
Handicaps
Much like golf, league bowling has a system of handicapping to make the game more competitive, not only between teams but individuals of various skill levels.
Fees and Prizes
Most leagues collect participation fees each week that contribute to their end-of-season prize night. Our centre staff can give you more information about the costs associated with the various leagues.
